Samsara scores are the best indicator of our drivers’ safe driving habits. Our safety department prioritizes monitoring
drivers’ scores, and Samsara makes that job seamless. We are tremendously proud that a significant number of S&H
Express drivers routinely earn a monthly score of 90% or above. That’s an impressive achievement when you
consider the congested areas, variable weather, and aggressive motorists our drivers encounter every day.
With a 99.6% Samsara score for 2024, Luis Rivera is our Samsara Safest Driver of the Year! “I leave the house
each morning thanking God for another day. I ask Him to help me return home safely and to do my best to make
sure that the drivers I share the road with get home safely too,” Luis said when asked how he maintained his near-
perfect score. A local driver out of the Reading/Allentown area, Luis joined our company in Feb. 2023. His driver
manager especially enjoys Luis’s terrific sense of humor and adds, “He is remarkable – I can count on Luis, his
customers can count on him, and, of course, he doesn’t present safety concerns.”
Three drivers stood out for having the most improved Samsara scores in 2024: Elmer Frantz, Jarret Walter, and
Matt Simms. These drivers recognized ways they could improve their driving habits at the beginning of the year.
They corrected and maintained great scores for the remainder of 2024. All four drivers received certificates and gift
cards.
The Samsara camera system and technology provide a way to incentivize, identify, and reward safe driving behaviors
such as safe speed, focus, and compliance with Hours of Service. The program uses AI to detect road conditions,
risks and behaviors, and generates insightful summaries for each driver. Safety coaches can easily determine which
drivers to commend, and which drivers to provide with additional coaching.
