In October, our incredible regional driver, Cheyenne Ward, nominated S&H Express for the prestigious Best Fleets to Drive For contest! This annual competition celebrates for-hire trucking companies that create exceptional workplace experiences for their drivers and independent contractors.
Now in its 16th year, the contest highlights the best in the industry, selecting nominees from over 1.1 million U.S. for-hire trucking companies (DOT, 2023).
How It Works
Nominated companies are scored based on:
- Programs offered to drivers – Including benefits, resources, and perks.
- Driver satisfaction – Measured through direct feedback from drivers.
- Results – Focused on safety and driver retention.
Scoring is thorough and includes a 110-question corporate questionnaire, interviews with company leaders, and comprehensive driver surveys.
The Competition
Last year, out of 1.1 million trucking companies across North America, only 117 were nominated, and just 62 made it to the finalist round. While this year’s data hasn’t been released yet, here’s the exciting news: S&H Express has been named a finalist for the third consecutive year!
President Jordan Kolb shared his thoughts on the recognition:
“We do know that we have achieved finalist status again this year – for the third year in a row. That is a tremendous honor. Thank you, Cheyenne, for nominating us!”
Kolb also highlighted how valuable the contest is for gaining insight and driving improvements:
“Scrutinizing the compilation of driver survey responses and the statistical data provided by the Best Fleets contest, and comparing it with information gained through conversations with drivers, customers, staff, and leaders at other trucking companies, helps provide a deeper understanding of what is important to drivers, and of the industry’s challenges.”
